Thermostat problem or normal?
Hey people, ball python noob here but usual Corn Snake owner so just curious regarding a certain thermostat matter. Currently I have the thermostat attached to a UTH and set it to 30’c. It clicked off yesterday when it hit the desired temp, but it hasn’t clicked back on since? Just wondering if this is normal or if there is a problem? Thanks in advance everyone.

Re: Thermostat problem or normal?
If the temperature is at the desired level then its normal for the thermostat to turn the heat mat or CHE off.
It sounds weird that your heater has spent that amount of time off and is still at 30c, but if the temp is fine, then it's fine.
Do you have a thermometer separate to the thermostat to measure the temps? Just double check with that, or get one ASAP. You need to be able to check both the hot and cool side anyway.

Yes I have a digital thermometer with the probe on the warm side. That’s currently registering at 28.7’c.

Sounds fine then! I'd probably bump your thermostat up to 31c, you want a hot-spot of ideally 31 or 32. Otherwise, sounds good to me.

Re: Thermostat problem or normal?
Just been worried that the thermostat is possibly broke and there’s too much heat coming through and my little guy is getting burnt.

If you're worried I'd just watch the temperatures like a hawk. (You should be double checking them frequently anyway.) I'd rather be too worried than too lax.
Some thermostats have a failsafe to shut down when they malfunction but not all of them are like this.To put your mind at ease you could purchase one of those.

Re: Thermostat problem or normal?
Everyone should have a digital temperature gun .. less than ten dollars off eBay / Amazon or whatever
You can then check all the important surface temps at random times ..
