New to Boas
Hi guys, yesterday I picked up a female Motley Columbian Red Tail Boa from a pet store, she is about 6 months old and she is still very very small, I would say not much bigger than a hatchling. Anyone have any idea if this is normal? This is my first boa so I am unsure, but everything I'm reading says she should be 3-4 feet by the time she hits a year. She came with a feeding chart, I will include pictures of both her and her feeding chart. They were feeding her mice also, not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: New to Boas
The way I see the picture, to my humble opinion, shes much bigger than a hatchling and she seems fine for a 6 month old. weekly medium mouse I think is the norm at that point and you might wanna slow down when she can take bigger.
Beautiful snake! Congrats.

That is a nice large 6 month old IMO, not small at all, looks very well fed. Congrats on your new pick up! Boas are great.
Boas do best when fed slowly, reaching 3-4ft at one year is deff. possible but not ideal (i've seen overfed 18 mo olds at 6'). Mine usually reach the 4' mark closer to 3 years of age.
These are hatchings at a month old, to give you a size reference:

Re: New to Boas
Nice motley you picked up, looks a great size for his age
Boas grow different to pythons
And stay slimmer as juveniles, its not Till they get into a few yrs old they start to put girth on unless over fed like

This is my 7month old sunglow motley, taken this morning. as you can see a fair bit smaller than your motley, but she is central American line rather than Colombian
