Lost snake :(

He got out of his cage in the middle of the night Saturday. I’ve looked everywhere and put plastic bags in corners and dark small areas. I’m really worried because there are open outlet things in the wall right behind his tank they he could’ve fit into. I don’t think I’m going to see him again and I feel like such a bad owner and I’ve only had him for a couple months

Check places it couldn't possibly have got to or fit in within 20 feet of its cage. You can find them in the weirdest places. Inside drawers, behind computers, up on top of closet shelves, below furniture with too-small gaps, behind television mounts, inside chair cushions.

Put down a bowl or two of water along the walls. Plug in a human heatpad on the floor and pile a towel on it if you have one.

Keep up hope! I found my corn snake 5 months after it escaped, perfectly healthy, though a bit skinny. If it was a ball python, check every warm spot in your house. Behind electronics, around the refrigerator, in the water heater closet.

Why are there open outlet covers? You could heat up a rodent and hang it in front of those or put it on a heat mat nearby at night to see if he's in the wall.

It happens. What sort of room did the snake escape into? If the electrical socket openings are not very low to the floor then it is possible the snake did not notice them.

My reptile rooms are converted bedrooms in my house. All of my escapees go directly for the nearest closet. As soon as I notice someone missing I drop some f-bombs and then start taking everything out of the nearest closet (top and bottom) and examining it in detail until I find them. It helps that I have two small lions patrolling the house at night so exiting the room is not an option...

Don't give up...keep looking & good luck! Not knowing what's nearby makes it hard to advise you, but check under all furniture cushions & between mattresses!
I agree about closets...it's like a magnetic attraction...many years ago, my hatchling albino cal king got out- I found her in a boot in the closet. Already a fashionista!

Set a heat lamp up over a hide. Does it eat frozen thawed? Lay out a thawed rat under that and leave the room.

Our guy got out twice...both times I found him in closet, inside the box with my daughters old Easy Bake Oven!! Why he chose that spot both times I have NO idea....but be sure to check closets and go through all boxes that have an opening.

I got one back after two weeks — I’d even given up !!

All I did was put a little vivarium on the snake room floor - on its side with the flap open .. I just put a little bowl of water inside and a tiny little heat mat underneath.. it was between the carpet and the viv.

The snake was asleep over the warm area one morning..

My Burmese got out once. You would think it would be easy to find a thirteen foot snake. Took over a week found her in the basement next to water heater. Perfectly fine.

Yes, you would! Years back I had a 5.5' bull snake get loose one night in mid-November...she turned up in my kitchen late one night in mid-May, after she brumated
in the crawl space under my kitchen cabinets where I suspected she was but couldn't see her or get her out. She was fine, & looking for lunch. I had looked everywhere
& worried a lot until she turned up safe & sound, but she knew exactly what to do in winter.

Unfortunately BPs are at a much greater risk, since they don't brumate & need warmth.
