Yes...also known as Betadine (brand name), it's used by doctors as a surgical scrub, & is safe to use topically (on the skin) of our snake-pals too, to prevent or fight infections from minor wounds.

Another product (I've had no need to try yet) is actually made for reptile use...it's a water-soluble antiseptic gel...sold by some pet stores (Petco- I've heard carries it) or on Amazon if you can't find it locally.

*while human antiseptic ointments such as Neosporin can be used in a small amount & temporarily on a snake wound, it's petroleum jelly based & can make for skin issues (bad sheds, scales de-laminating)
so it's not the best option.

Povidone-iodine is the generic name & good to have on hand for humans AND pets. I also used it on my dogs foot recently when he accidentally ripped off a toenail while chasing
    a squirrel.

It's an antiseptic solution used to clean wounds however depending on the issue at hands it may or may not be recommended, other things maybe needed, and other might need to be avoided for long term treatment, it all depends on the issue. And depending on the issue injectable antibiotics may be required as well.

Also, as a reminder, anti-bacterial ointments, like Neosporin, can help with some skin conditions, etc. DO NOT USE the ones with pain killing agent in them. This can be harmful to your reptiles.

    Antibiotic good. Painkilling agent bad.

I think you meant to say "antiseptic good..." It's easy to confuse antibiotics & antiseptics, but they aren't the same thing.

Here's a quick link (one of many, I'm sure) explaining the differences: https://blog.safetec.com/what-is-the...and-antibiotic (I'm not promoting Safetec, I'm not at all familiar with them)
