    Birthday Girl 9er.

The first snake here was a gift to our son.
Hunter hit 9 years old today and she's doing great.

She's still off food, and has been since December 10th, its typical for her and we deal with it almost every year. She's showing some interest when I feed the others but has refused each time.

She just shed last week, she's lean and pure muscle. She's about 4.5 feet long, she's pretty much topped off.

I skipped the deck rail photos because they all end up looking the same.

Here is the girl indoors on her special day.

She's the shortest animal here now but her proportions are great.

    HBD girl!

Great to see older and well cared for snakes on here. She looks great!

I'm curious about what age she started refusing food for periods of time and do you usually let it sit in the cage for her or pull it once she doesn't take it? I'm going through the same thing where there seems to be a lot of interest but that's about it.....

Refusal has been on and off most of her life.

We were once on live only, but I just don't like doing it. It ended up being a hassle if she refused live and I had to deal with moving the rat to another cage for another animal.

Last year she did well and took F/T with a vengeance so that's where we're at now.

She doesn't lose weight and I'm content waiting her out.

If I leave the F/T rat, I shut off all the lights and see what happens in a half hour, which is always nothing.

This snake typically eats 5 times a year which is a bit less than the boa constrictor here. He eats maybe 6-7 times in a year.

The carpets are a bit different, the Bredli is younger and doing some catch up eating so he's about every 10 days probably until fall.

The coastal is once a month, maybe less if she decides she's not into it.

As long as your Royal is not displaying any signs of illness or losing a lot of weight, I would not worry about food refusal.

    Thanks for the nice words!

Appreciate the response! My BOA will gladly cleanup the refusals but I would like to give the BP a puncher's chance of taking the prey. After speaking w/ Ziggy, I'm going to try and leave the prey in for 2 hours and then feed to my BOA if it's still there. Glad to have the years of expertise from snakes owners like yourself and Ziggy.
