Pro Heat Panel and Animal Plastics T10

I recently placed my order for an Animal Plastics T10 with a handful of options. Due to their extended lead time right now, I have a while to place the order for my RHP from Bob at Pro-Products. I sent Bob an email about the T10 and my room setup / temperatures. I'm a little indecisive on what to go with based on his response (not his fault, mine)

So, I live in Northeast Ohio with a full 4 seasons. During the summer the A/C stays on the entire season and is set to 72. Occasionally I will drop it to 71. Winter time thermostat is set to 68 with an occasional bump up a degree or two. So the vast majority of the time the house is 68-72 degrees and Bob recommended a Pro Heat Model PH-3 75 watt 12" x 18" x 1" based on those specifics. OCCASIONALLY, the very short time or handful of days in spring and fall when windows can be open, I may forget to close them at night etc. and have a drop into the low 60s and at worst the high 50s for a short period of time. Also my thermostat can go into "ECO" mode in the winter if I am away from the house for a long time and drop to as low as 60 until I get home and go back up. Bob said for high 50's to low 60's he would recommend the Model PH-12 100 watt 12" x 24" x 1".

Looking for opinions on those with T10's and Pro Products panels and their environment & panel size. Not sure if the 100 watt is necessary based on the rarity, or if it is a good idea for the extra ability.

I like the idea of the 100 watt.

If you run a smaller panel, it will likely run at it's max, or at least work harder more often than a lager panel will.

If it is overkill, it won't hurt anything, and you'll always have the extra "boost" if you need it.

I have a big one in my 6' x 30" x 2' cage. The cage is a Proline and not an AP but you get the idea.

    This cage (bottom) is a 4' x 30" x 20"
It's a bit closer to the T-10 size.

I have the big panel in this one as well.

The bigger panels do a great job and just don't need to work as hard to maintain a steady temp.

If you aren't strapped for cash got with what Bob recommends.

    Good luck!

I have a 75w pro products rhp in my t8. Ambients as low as 63, I’ve seen 62 at times. Temps have stayed fine and it hasn’t really struggled. You could always exit the eco mode on the thermostat or turn it off completely.

Call Bob, he has a cash/check discount. If you pay with a CC your paying the fees. Get the 100W panel, go big or go home.

It also cost less in electricity running the bigger one than a smaller one that has to run 2-3x more to keep up
I’m just a bill sitting on top of capital hill.

Does anyone have a concern that the 100W being 24" would cover 1/2 of the enclosure compared to the 75W being only about 1/3?

No, it's fine. Your snake will still be able to go to a cool side if it wishes.

You can also put a UTH under the enclosure's warm side as a basking spot, and then use the RHP to maintain ambient temp throughout the rest of the enclosure. I have three enclosures set up like that and it gives you a bit more flexibility with setting up the warm and cool sides. Obviously each heating appliance will need its own thermostat/controller.

Yeah, I've already got a Herpstat 2 for the current 20gal with CHE and UTH so I figured why not do the flexwatt with the RHP in the Animal Plastics Enclosure.
