Smart snakes shouldn't have stupid owners...that's my first thought.

The second thought is- I wonder how long before the locals want them banned?

Hope it's caught soon as we're expecting temps in the low-mid 40's overnight this weekend.

FOUND! We've had a few nights where the temp dipped below freezing so that critter is lucky to have survived.

RICHWOOD, W.Va. (AP) — An 11-foot python that was on the loose in West Virginia has been found.

Richwood Police Chief Charles Burkhamer says a letter carrier saw the snake laying near a roadway Tuesday, about a block away from where it escaped about a month ago.

Authorities have been scouring the area trying to find the python after it got out of its tank, broke through a window screen and slithered out into the neighborhood. Richwood residents had been notified to keep watch over small children and house pets.

The python has been returned to its owner. He has been asked to register the animal with state officials and reinforce the reptile’s tank so it doesn’t break out again.

A second, 15-foot-python that escaped in Morgantown in May still has not been found.

Wow, what a LUCKY snake! Just barely ahead of very cold weather. Sure hope the owner "shapes up" now.

Things like that make me so mad not only for the animal, lucky it was found, but because of the perception the general public will have, we are already suffering from negativity and now what the general public will think is we have to stop those irresponsible snake owners.

This type of thing reflects on ALL of us.

Not just you, but I've just learned to mostly ignore what snakes the media misidentifies. To many people, all snakes look alike except for size, lol. Besides, "python"
just sounds more threatening & makes a better headline... If a gopher snake vibrates their tail, it's a "rattlesnake".
