Put out a little basket of snake-friendly "toys" and a mini office crate for the boas to climb on today. Adelita didn't care much for the crate, but she did enjoy climbing on the basket. She's still pretty pudgy from her last feeding, though, so she wasn't as pokey as usual and went straight to her heat for a nap afterwords. I have a feeling she'll be leaving me a not-so-little "present" soon!

The old rub on her nose also seems to be healing back well, albeit darker and a bit discolored compared to the rest of her facial scales. I recently got her some of the reptile formula Vetericyn and it seems to be working wonders! Would definitely recommend it to anyone else treating old or new rubs.

Thanks! She is growing into quite the beauty. I'm glad her personality won me over at the expo was back when. Having a snake with her looks and personality is a real treat, and I'm hoping to keep her going for as many decades as I can -- even if she can be a pushy little brat when she decides she's hungry.

I was actually introduced to the wonders of Vetericyn back when I helped train horses. We had a rather sensitive thoroughbred that was prone to fungal infections on the base of their tail, and the spray-on Vetericyn was one of the few things that could reliably keep it off while being gentle. I was quite happy to hear from folks around here that they'd gone out and made a reptile-specific formula. It's definitely a lot nicer to use than my old treatment methods -- no need to worry about it messing with scale growth (like Neosporin) or stinging too much on application (like even highly diluted iodine).

Somebody got a whiff of her brother's dinner and immediately came out with the most pathetic look on her face. "Excuse me mother, but where's my mouse?" You'd think she wouldn't be hungry considering how full she still is from her last meal, but nope!

It looks like someone was on the hunt all night!

Adelita was prowling around her enclosure non-stop until a little while ago. It was a solid four or five plus hours of sustained activity, which is normally a lot for a boa. She only calmed down after I finally took her out of her cage, let her hang out and poke around for a bit, and generally satisfy her need to hunt. Even then, she's still been hanging around her door, though thankfully she's just sitting instead of rubbing at the moment. Still glad I picked up that Vetericyn, because her nose did need it a bit this morning.
