Re: Adelita - 2019 Hypo Sonoran

Behira and Feliz will hit the doors in anticipation of food but will only take off the tongs.

I left the rat 2 inches from Behira one night. Was there in the morning with her 2 inches from it. I picked it up with the tongs and as soon as I shook it she nailed it and ate.

    They can be strange.

My corns don’t care. I just throw it in if they are hiding and it’s gone in the morning. Shayna the BP too sometimes.

Yafe the CP is less aggressive about it then the boas, but he’s on the rat so quick it doesn’t matter.

Re: Adelita - 2019 Hypo Sonoran

A little something interesting I noticed when I had Adelita out today. The camera didn't capture it the best, but it's quite obvious in person.

For reasons I believe are related to basking, the left side of her face was in light phase while the rest of her was in dark phase. Normally, she's in dark phase for the first half of the day while she's napping away, and only transitions to light phase at night or after a good amount of time under her UV light. Today, she stuck her head out of her cork tube to rest it left side up on a cork flat, towards her light. It seems that the light exposure was just enough to trigger the left side of her face to light phase. Interesting!

Her belly's looking a tad pink, so she might be building up a shed. She's certainly due for one!

Snakes are all different about feeding, that's for sure. I've had snakes do this too. ^ ^ ^ But I don't usually wait until morning- I've learned to check sooner. It takes them a while to train us.

Never had that happen as far as feeding. Definitely strange. I’ve had dumerils in the past that drove my crazy to get feeding consistently. That’s about it.

Took Adelita out for a little porch time. Her eyes were looking a tad opaque in the natural light and she generally looks a little pre-sheddy. Methinks a shed may be on its way, but she's fooled me before.

I love waking up to a freshly-shed snake. Especially when that shed is perfect!

Always think she is ginormous until I see her being held.

Oh, how rough it is to be a snake on measuring day...

Adelita's been looking mighty fine. She started to get more of that "teenaged" boa body with her latest growth spurt and measured in at 316g and 2'11" today. My little baby's growing up!
