I live in missouri where we don't have any regulation on exotic pets. Literally none. Every animal law is in relation to native animals, endangered animals, or animals killing other people or destroying property. I don't know how much it would change for our neighbors, but I'd advise you check local laws. Just a few quick google searches and a bit of reading should get you all the info you need. As far as I'm aware none of those snakes are illegal in illinois.

    I found this:

Boas & Pythons1. Anyone who is selling, breeding, or buying for resale a Apodora papuana (Papuan python), Liasis olivacea,(Olive python), Morelia spilota (Carpet or Diamond python), Morelia kinghorni (Scrub python), Moreliaamethystine (Amethystine python), Python natalensis (Southern African python), Python sebae (AfricanRock python), Python molurus (Indian or Burmese python), Python reticulatus (Reticulate python), anyspecies of the genus Boa (Boa constrictors), or any species of the genus Eunectes (Anacondas) must havea Reptile/Amphibian Wholesale/Retail Dealer license. To obtain a Reptile/Amphibian Wholesale/RetailDealer license go to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries office in Baton Rouge or call 225-765-2898.

    2. Anyone possesing a Boa or Python 8 feet or longer must obtain a Restricted Snake Permit . To qualify forthe permit one must keep their animals in an escape proof inside secondary containment and live in anarea that allows these animals. To obtain the free permit contact Jeff Boundy with the LouisianaDepartment of Wildlife and Fisheries

That's the state of being in a Lousy situation which is my life right now . And trust me you don't want to go there. regardless of the laws.

If it gets hotter in Louisiana than where I live now. Forget it. regardless of the laws.

    Missing ole Virginia.

I'm trying to leave NY. If i could go the rest of my life without seeing snow I'd be super happy.

I don't blame you for trying to leave NY...I grew up in one of them cold northern states & sure don't miss it!

I don't mind winter with a few light snows, but that's more than enough for me too. Hope you find a way out.

While checking out state laws is a must one should also check out local laws.
Towns, cities, even counties can have restrictions. The town right next to me has a no constrictor law...you read that right, the mighty corn snake included.
A world known locality breeder was forced out of this 'hobby' because of local laws.
    Good luck.
