    AP T8 heating

So I just got my t8 after 20 long weeks of waiting. I kinda gathered from reading that if room ambient temps were around 70 you could use only the flexwatt below for belly heat. How how are you guys setting the thermostat I have it on 105 and it is getting the inside to around 80 there are spots on the bare floor that are mid 90s but nothing consistent

Also the crazy snake that had half it's intestines removed still lives lol.

with ambient temps around 70 the UTH will do pretty much nothing for your cage ambients. Need an RHP/CHE/etc to increase cage ambient in your case. For UTH only to be sufficient you generally need room temps in the mid 70s or higher depending on the species being kept

I just set one of my extra CHE on to the top of the cage attached to the same thermostat seems to be helping it out about enough. Not very elegant looking where is everyone buying RHP from I googled around but didn't even see any for sale on pro reptiles

Unless you have a screen cutout for that lamp on your cage I'd take it off asap. CHE get incredibly hot even when regulated properly. In direct contact with the top of your brand new cage you're asking for trouble

As for RHP, email/call Bob Pound at pro-products.com or look at reptilebasics.com.

It's not sitting on top it's in a lamp so it's not close to the cage 14-16 inches away. Ether way seems this whole thing is coming down until I get a heat panel figure out. Might be a few months before he get an upgrade unfortunately cuz I'll need that herpstat 2 then

You’re probably ok in that case. You said “set on to the top of the cage” so I figured a warning was in order. Also, every individual heating element needs its own thermostat. Using a single thermostat for two devices is also asking for trouble eventually

Could also heat that room a bit more and use the UTH alone? Need 75ish + degrees in the room for that to make optimum temps though. Not really efficient for smaller numbers of animals being kept but an option nonetheless

Try to hunt for a used proportional thermostat. I bought a few of my Herpstats for half the price. Just a thought.
