Mites, Where Do They Come From??

All the talk about ites gets me really worried for my snakes.

I have 4 various snakes, All have been to the local exotic vet, and had well checkups in the last 6 months.

They get checked for and signs of an r.i, mites, a fecal for internal parasites, weighed and just generally looked over.

They all were cleared, BUT.... Being they were cleared is there still a chance of mites?? Where do they come from??

Do they appear From the substrate (I have/use aspen, forest floor and Eco earth). Is there only a chance of them appearing if I add another snake

That might have them? Any Info on this is appreciated!

    Thanks

    Jeff

Snake mites do not come from your bedding they appear when an animal is not properly quarantine and transfers mites to other animal's in your collection.

So to have mites you must be in contact with an animal that has mites, that why you quarantine, don't take your snake out at a show or a pet store, be selective if you buy live feeders and why when you go to a show or a pet store you shower and change cloth before going to your snake room (mites can hitchhike on you or a feeder animal if feeding live)
