    Sexing Pacman frog?

I dont know if anyone can help me out here, but I appreciate any insight. Most frog forums I've looked at arent very active...

Anyway, I bought a teeny ornate pacman frog almost 3 weeks ago. It was about the size of a quarter. And right now it's a little over 3 inches long, and almost that long across. Actually, it's a little disturbing how fast the frog has grown..

On a daily basis, it will easily consume 1-2 whole nightcrawlers, as well as a single freshly molted superworm, and 1-2 fish (smelts). I've dusted with calcium each meal, and also supplement with multivitamins. The 5 gallon tank is a toasty 82-86 degrees.

Anyway, I was wondering if the massive growth in such a short span of time could indicate that it's a female. My boyfriend has a male, and it took his about 8 months to reach 3 inches (adult size). I don't know the age, as I bought the frog from Petco, but I cant imagine that it was more than 2 months old.. I currently see no nuptial pads, nor have I heard it call. The head is also the same size as the body.

Is it still too early to tell? I really do hope it's a female (I've been calling it Tallulah). But I'm interested in any input there was to offer. Just curious.

    Thanks!

I don't use any specific technique. I just compare them to each other. Males sort of sit-up with a more angular body shape and females spread out like frog pancakes...

If I knew how to post a picture here, I would..

But if we go by shape, mine looks like the green pacman in that image. I only bought her a month ago and she's almost 3.5 inches long.

I normally help out with these kinds of things but I do not have a Pacman frog so I cannot help you. I'm sorry but you can search on Google for some possible answers or maybe it will lead you to somewhere else that you can find your answer.

Sounds like you have a female. Here is one of my 7 year old males. It took him 1 year to reach 3 inches, and after 6 more years he is about 3.5 inches now.

It was giving me problems uploading other pics. Images were too big, but here she is:

The first pic was less than an hour after bringing her home. The second is about a week later.

As of now, she's well over 3 inches. No nuptial pads, or calling.

This pic was taken around the time of the second image posted above. This was about 2 weeks ago, when she was slightly under 3 inches.

With what you've said about the speed of growth, maybe it's safe to lean towards female
