    albino vs high contrast

I have a question about "High contrast" albinos. Looking at pics of HC albinos and regular albino i can hardly see any difference. Are they genetically different? what if i buy a het HC albino and breed to a normal albino, are they compatible? Some insight would be helpful! Thanks

    Re: albino vs high contrast

I won't pretend to be an expert and I have never produced an albino but here is my insight...which I'm sure will be corrected if I'm wrong. "HC" to me means exactly that...a nice clean bright white with a nice clean bright yellow. Now have I ever seen an albino BP that I didn't think was hot?? no i haven't but those more involved with albino BP's and have seen alot more can tell you the real differences.

I also think that in some cases its just marketing hypes.

I thought it just might be some hypes. I havent seen any pics of "ugly" albinos. I think they are all absolutely amazing. I was just worried that they might be incompatible or something. I was just shipped a 1.1 het albino pair from Joe Ellis; has anyone heard of him? Thanks for your responseTekWarren

    Re: albino vs high contrast

not a problem, I purchased my 100% het pair this summer from two different breeders and two different blood lines. One was being called high contrast I don't remember if the other was advertised as such or not. Maybe Adam or someone who has actually produced and had many albino's pass through their hands will chime in here.

I'm not sure of the difference either, but NERD has faded albinos, hi-contrast albinos and some others listed on their site. You might want to take a look there. Hopefully someone with more experience can comment.

They're all high contrast as babies.

    Re: albino vs high contrast

This is kinda off topic, but:

It seems like everyone always discusses the 'line' of axanthic that is used to make snow bps. So does the 'quality' of albino used to make the snow make a big difference? I have seen faded looking adult albinos and I have seen some where the contrast is very strong. Would the snow created from a high contrast albino show more pattern than a lower contrast albino? I have never heard this discussed so I was just wondering
