    Anyone Keep Western Hognoses?

Hi - My western hognose has been with us since February and she's started to not eat for me, it's been since mid-september and I was wondering if anyone in the group has expereince with the Western Hognose?

You can shoot me a note here or directly to mike@payneland.com

I'm not sure if it's just a North American Snake preparing for winter or something else. She's dropped from 66 to 62 grams, she was when she last ate, she lost weight prior to that feed too. I thought she'd eat again after shedding (like the first time), but no such luck this time around.

She's otherwise fine and I'm pretty sure her husbandry's up to snuff. We've added a basking light to get her to the high-end of the recommended temp range.

    Thanks in advance.

The enclosure is a Visions 221 (approx 2ft).
    Substrate is Carefresh Ultra.
Warm Hide Over UTH and 1/2 covered by basking light.
Cold Hide on opposite site from Warm Hide.
    tupperware-style humid-hide with damp moss.
    Big waterbowl
    Basking Rock under basking light.

She seems fine, cruises throughout the day, goes to bed at dark, just takes 2 months off from eating.

It isn't uncommon for them to go off of feed for a 2-4 months for no reason. I would continue to monitor her weight, if she loses more than 1/4 of her body weight I would try scenting her food. What were you feeding he when she would eat? I had a female go off feed for almost 4 months, finally I got worried and even though she was previously eating unscented before her hunger strike, I really wanted to get her eating again. I picked up a western plains toad at a show for around $5, set him up in a little 10 gal aquarium and rubbed the fuzzies on him prior to offering them to her, she started eating the scented fuzzies right away. I kept with scented until she had regained all the weight she had lost, then weaned her off and back on to unscented.
