Largest snake you have been bit by, and the results

The longest snake I was bit by was a 16 foot Reticulated Python. It was totally my fault though. I was showing him to some younger classmates, and while walking around him I stepped on the tip of his tail. He swung around and tagged me square on my leg. He did not hold on, and luckily there was no real damage beside looking like a pin cushion. The largest snake I was bit by was a 150lb Burm. This was while feeding. I had a rabbit on the 2 foot tongs and the burm blasted past the rabbit and landed below my wrist. As soon as I was tagged I started getting wrapped up. He/She (I forgot what sex). As soon as it happened I called over the owner of the burm. (I was helping feed) (honestly i wasn't very calm at this point so it was more of a yell than a call.) The owner ran to grab the Listerine. We poured a bit on the snake by his mouth, and the burm let go. Luckily I did not need any stitches, and there was no nerve damage or anything. I was just really bruised, and had quite a number of punctures in my arm for a few weeks. Both of these occurred while I was under 18, so they were both my fault. You know I was young dumb, and totally cocky. My friend did get longer tongs after this happened though.

My 8ft bullsnake tagged me recently and it was all her fault! I was spot cleaning her enclosure and I guess she was just having a bad day and decided to have a go at me. We've since made up but I still keep my eyes on her.

I had a super fire ball python. Miss Snow hated being a pet! She did love her tree though. She was less than a year old. She went to a breeder friend of mine and she still has her tree and doing well.

Idk what's gotten into her lately. She's always been a really sweet snake. She's eating a large or jumbo rat every 14 days and I think I may not be feeding her often enough. I've been keeping all the critters on the same feeding schedule but her metabolism is a little faster than my pythons and boas. I might move her to a 10 day feeding schedule. I also think the warmer temps might be making her a little grumpier than normal.

Lizzy, one of my 8 foot Coastal Carpets very obviously was telling me that she was in food mode. But I just couldn’t stand that poo sitting there. Like a dummy I reached for it.

She struck out well over two feet and got my fingers. Like a bigger dummy I jerked my hand back so hard I completely drug her out of the cage onto the floor.

It doesn’t look like much, but my middle finger throbbed and hurt for 3 days. The wound was much deeper than it looks.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

I detailed mine in this thread, from an 8' boa:

After hearing some thoughts on bp.net a few years back, I don't show the bite photos anymore because I don't want them to be used against our hobby in any way but it wasn't too bad, just some teeth marks and bruising.

I think some bite pics are good as long as discretion is used. Some people expect a Boa or “Python” bite to totally maim or dismember a person. In their minds eye they think every Boa and Python is the size of the monster Anacondas seen on TV and the internet. By seeing that most are just imprints might put them more at ease.

Naturally don’t post gory overly bloody pics where you are in the ER with heavily gashed limbs with nerve damage.

That was an "I DOUBLE-DARE YOU!" look if ever I've seen one! Many snakes don't like their space invaded, so if they're in their hides, I use my ping-pong paddle
to block their door-way...and if they're not hiding, there's other ways to shield your hands to spot clean.

Your wounds really did look deep & I don't doubt they throbbed for days. OUCH!

The biggest one that got me was a 10' 50% SD retic female. I was using long tongs to feed her but instead of standing to one side, my body was right in the line of fire behind the feeder. Of course when she missed it she hit me on the collar bone and shoulder.

Since I was at the very end of her strike range it was more of a punch than a bite, and there wasn't much visible as far as either blood or teeth marks. I did have one heck of a bruise though.
