Well it was feeding night. I tend to open the tubs then grab the defosted rat and offer from two foot tongs. In this case I didn't even get the tub open more than 3 inches before she launched. Had to run her head under cold water to get her to let go and she still launched and ate the rat when offered. I think I need a suit of armour.

Re: Biggest girl thought I was a rat
Wow Doc. Nice battle scar. As Jason Mraz would sing, "you win some, you learn some". With a couple of my adults that I know are aggressive feeders, I actually use a snake hook to pull the tub open and tongs to offer the rat. Still can get a bit dicey but at least you have more distance. Remember, that which doesn't kill you, may lay nice clutches for you in the future.

Wow, that's from a ball python? I've never seen one do that much damage but I've also never had one hang on thinking I'm actually food lol. That makes a huge difference I suppose, a "oops you're not food" bump or a "I got you now and I'm gonna eat you" clamp down lol. I've been lucky with the aggressive eaters, they've come flying out but always wildly and never get me. Although I did get hit by a 12' retic back when I kept them and she barely grazed me but you'd a thought she hit an artery in my leg the way the blood was gushing out. Considering that was just a bump I'd hate to see what would of happened if she actually bit down like your girl.
Cool battle wound, thanks for sharing
