    Possibly underweight?

I adopted a ball python from a reptile show about 2 weeks ago and the vendor/breeder told me she was about 2.5 years old. I don't know if I believe them but I have no way of knowing.
She currently weighs 422 grams and is 37 inches long.
I plan on feeding her F/T weaned rats because those are about the right weight and width. I would've tried feeding her sooner but I wanted to wait for her to get used to the enclosure for a week and then she entered her shed cycle. Thankfully it was a complete shed with no issues.

That's very small for a two year old female. Got a picture?

These are the best pictures that capture the biggest part of her body. Also including one picture with her still on a scale.

That is very small. We have a an almost 5 month old that weighs 250 and a 4 month at 234. Both male. The girl we have is only 2.5 months and she's 100 g.

Based on the pictures she doesn't look underweight at all. She looks great, actually.
When it comes to snakes there are far too many variables to determine age by weight, but 422 grams is pretty small for a 2 1/2 year old BP, especially for a female.

Body structure is more important than weight though. And her body structure looks really good from what I see in the pics.

It's a relief to hear that she looks reasonably healthy. It's hard to tell what her actual age is because her length and weight so i'll never know for sure.
After reading up on other threads and websites I started thinking she was a bit under a year old. Hopefully she's a good eater and she'll start to grow a bit so I can know more.

And for what it's worth, I think she looks good too, in your pics. Snakes are like anything else though...they grow at their own pace & not all the same.
