Babies in bigger tubs, and a thermostat question?

Is it ok, all other things (temp, humidity, hide size, etc) being correct, to put babies in 24x18x7 37qt tubs?

They're going to be keepers and the fewer times I have to upgrade their living quarters the better.

Also, for those with many snakes, do you have a thermostat for everyone? I used to run three tubs off a helix with flexwatt but it was always a pain to get the temps in each one right.

    I use 4 thermostats/room.

2 thermostats (VE's set for the same temp.) for ambient. 1 thermostat controls half the heat sources (same wattage), the other controls the other half of the heat sources (same wattage).
Two thermostats instead of one for redundancy in case one malfunctions and cuts out (has not happened).

1 VE Thermostat to control small UTH's of same wattage (100+ daisy chain)
1 VE Thermostat to control medium UTH's of same wattage (50+ daisy chain)

    Works like a charm.

Edit: Hatchlings won't like being in larger enclosures--I'm sure you can clutter it up, but, it would probably just be easier to use small bins temporarily.

I also think smaller enclosures would be better. They really like and feel safer in enclosed spaces and may feel too insecure in a large one.

I have my ball pythons in 2 5-level racks and use one thermostat for each rack (placing it in the middle tub). For my tubs and enclosures that are not in a rack system I use a thermostat for each one.

So I could run one thermostat on the two bigger enclosures with 12x8 UTHs, and another one on 4 smaller ones, as long as the wattage is the same? Run a power strip to the thermostat and plug the UTHs into that?

While I agree that in general, young BPs will probably favor smaller tubs, I do want to chime in that I started both of mine (acquired at 2 months old and 4 months old) in 32qt tubs with similar dimensions to what you listed, and they have done very well, adjusted quickly and had no major disruptions to feeding schedule. The tubs are moderately cluttered once you've placed two hides, a water dish, two fake plants, and an Acurite tucked into one corner. Not necessarily saying I'd recommend it for everyone, just that it is doable.

I live in a warm climate, and myself prefer indoor temps more on the warm side, so my ambient temp rarely needs any help to stay sufficient, and I only use UTHs for the hotspot heat source. I have a Herpstat 2 regulating the UTHs for my two BP tubs; temperatures stay very stable and consistent.

Yes, just make sure the probe is secured firmly and the brand of the UTHs is the same (to eliminate variability) for each thermostat.
