    Fire / Vanilla Question

    Hi all! I was messing around with the Genetic Wizard at World of Ball Pythons, and found a weird quirk with the Fire and Vanilla morphs. If only one parent carries both genes and is bred to a normal, the wizard says its a 50/50 split. But if each parent has Fire or Vanilla, then it's 25/25/25/25 Normal/Fire/Vanilla/Vanilla Cream. Is this really reflective of how these genes interact? Or is this a weird quirk with the wizard? I have some links to the calc I put in for both scenarios:

    Calculator looks accurate to me:

    Fire and Vanilla are allelic (variants of the same gene)-which means that they are located at the same locus (genetic site). Since only one copy of an allelic gene from each parent gets transferred to the offspring during reproduction-a Vanilla cream (Fire/Vanilla) crossed with a normal will produce only Fires or Vanilla offspring-it cannot reproduce itself.

    Alternately: If one parent has a copy of Fire, and the other has a copy of Vanilla, then one copy of each gene is possible (1/2 chance of Fire x 1/2 chance of Vanilla = 1/4 = 25%) in the offspring which allows the production of a Vanilla Cream.
