    Question ASF acting weird

I just started breeding ASF and I am so glad I found this forum. Let me say that it has been so helpful! I have noticed this week that my ASF have been chewing all there food up and pushing it out of there cage. I feed them Mazuri F6 since I have had them, but this is the first time I seen them do this. Is this normal?

ASF's love to chew! I've had them in a glass tank before and they chewed the plastic rim, they will also destroy plastic water bottles. Normally I will put a piece of card board or empty toilet paper rolls in their tub for them to chew on. I've also heard of people putting in blocks of wood for them to chew on. Giving them an occasional handful of sunflower seeds helps to keep them content with the chewing.

I have paper rolls and wood blocks already in their cage. Definitely will try the sunflower seeds. Thanks for the advice

If they're like other rodents such as rats, they actually NEED to chew to keep their teeth filed down -otherwise their teeth can overgrow & become useless
once they curl...the way dog's toenails are when extremely overgrown. Might try giving them some shelled nuts (brazils are nice & hard!) to work on.
