    Question It's Been 7-Months!!!

My ball python has recently began to refuse food. I have had Monty for a total of 4-years and never had a huge problem in the past he was 2 when I got him. He started off not eating in the winter months which was regular for him. It has now been 7-months though and I am worried. He is not showing any signs of being sick and his cage is set up as usual so I don't think it is husbandry. Should I take him to the vet... he acts healthy and happy. He hasn't shed for awhile but his last shed was a full shed and his sheds have almost always come off in one piece. No matter what I offer him rat or mouse he just won't take what should I do.

Don’t change up the food item. If it was eating rats, continue offering rats but less frequently. Wait a week from last attempt and then offer again. If it refuses then wait two weeks and try again. It will eat eventually.
My 10yr old male is in a strange secondary fast for the year as well. Had his usual winter break, took a handful of meals and now has refused for a few successive attempts. If it has good body condition and weight I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Can be anxiety inducing though. First time my guy fasted it was for nearly 8 months

I'd have to agree with jmcrook...periodic fasts are normal (adult) ball python behavior. I'd wait at least 2 weeks between offering food, unless you just like being
frustrated? It actually stresses most snakes when food is offered too frequently, & you'll just be wasting it anyway. Be patient, try not to worry too much.
