yeah. I found that out the hard way. I was sick, and my gecko's carpet was FILTHY. I washed the carpet but had to wait till it was dry. i didn't have any paper towels, so I had to use paper napkins for substrate temporarily. I ended up going to petco to buy another one.
Now I have two.

They pick a corner and only defeated there. I would use paper towels only for that corner if you wish to keep the reptile carpet. I use tiles and river pebbles for most of the enclosure except for where he poops and warm spot.
