New Male BCI
It took me a while to decide who would move into my open Exo Terra. My initial instinct was to use it as temporary housing for a BCI, then eventually move it over to PVC, like I did with Sushi, my BP. I considered a king snake, a rat snake, a corn snake, and a short tailed python. In the end, the question was posed to me, "If you could only have one more snake, what would it be?" This put things into perspective for me, and my decision became pretty clear.
Anyhow, most of you know the rest of the story, I made a trip Friday evening to meet the breeder and pick this guy up. He is so alert it blows my mind. I held the deli cup in front of me and rotated it, his head stayed fixed on me the whole time. He seems unafraid also, more curious than nervous. Even after the 4 hour car trip back to my house, when I took him out of the cup to move him to the tank, it was long slow tongue flicks. Once he got into the tank, he went to climbing the walls and investigating, but it wasn't a hectic, anxious search, more of a collected assessment of his new environment. He weighed in at 91g Friday night. His last meal was Wednesday, so I am leaving him alone until this Wednesday, and he was raised on F/T mice, so hopefully feeding time with be a breeze.
Still working on a name...
Anyhow, here are a few shots while he was still in the deli cup, the breeder had him listed as a striped tail, 100% Het for Kahl albino. Momma was an arabesque and daddy was a Kahl albino:
And one climbing up my arm while moving from the cup to the tank:

Re: New Male BCI
Nice! I got a red pastel BCI in January and he’s quickly become my favorite snake if not my favorite animal period. They’re really awesome pets, congrats! I’m glad to see their popularity increase.

Great choice, & I doubt you'll need a blow-dryer for his food, BCI's are eating machines, lol.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the kind words. I'm really excited about this guy, after reading all the stories about the boa "personality" I knew I had to have one. Not mention I just love the look of them.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
