Black back question/ super long alien head

Would this hatchling be considered a black back? What is the cut off for being not a black back? Would any other hatchling be considered one?

Also, check out the long alien head! The other side has one as well, but the heads are only merged by their outline.

Not sure on the definition of black back but I can say without hesitation it is a stunningly good example of a black pastel.

Appreciated. Their dad, Sage, has been the dad of all three of my clutches now but I can't really say I'm disappointed.

What was the pairing? Black back is genetic not a description so there isn't a cut off point. They carry the gene or not. Beautiful babies either way.

Mica, the mum is a normal, and Sage, the dad is a black pastel. I attached pictures of Mica so you can see how her alien heads attach to her back spots. I don't think that counts as black backed. I added a photo of Sage, and then one of Beryl, a black pastel hold back from Mica and Sage's first clutch ever that has less back spotting. It seems to happen consistently.
