New- One More Hassle For Flying

Starting Oct, 2020 you need a “Real ID” issued by the gubmint for flying identification. Only driver’s licenses with a “star” at the top qualify.

If you plan on flying in the future you better get your gubmint approved ID. Is this really going to be an improvement? It must, it’s gubmint backed!

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

ugh gawd. i was my birthday the other week and i had to renew my license. my state's temporary license and ID is just a 8 1/2 x 11 plain white paper printout w/ a barcode but no picture. it takes up to 30 days to get the new license (which i think is this Real ID one) in the mail and i'm supposed to be in Montana on business this week. i hope i can make it through TSA w/ my paper ID. i hate the system.

    RIP Mamba

Can’t you use your old DL along with your new paper?

When Texas used to cut the old license in half, they would give you back the photo portion for such things.

I just got back from the US, and while security was still a mess, I was happy that I didn't have to take my shoes off at one of the airports at least, so that was a good start.

It's a very different feeling when you fly domestically in Australia (or most other countries), where I think I had to show my boarding pass once, walk through a metal detector, and that was about it.
