Snake choosing to be in 74° F??

Ok looks like I'll just be cleaning out urates whenever they appear. On the issue of cleaning: should I change the water every day or every other day?

I like that Salsa bowl idea! I'll get a couple of those (I have a dremel I can use for this too) to test out his affinity for the moss hide and see if he's properly regulating or not. Much less expensive than buying another rock hide to test this out. Thanks!

You don't need to change out the water daily, IMO: in fact, if your water source is chlorinated* for public health, it doesn't off-gas immediately, so tap water
that sits for a day is actually better for your snake...snakes didn't evolve drinking chlorine. (Chlorine dissipates in about 24 hours; if your water has chloramine
however, it takes an effective filtration to get rid of it in the water- so it helps to know what your local utility is using.)

Good idea to spot-clean urates when seen, & feces for sure. Moss that your snake defecates in should be tossed, as there's no way to wash it that it won't
harbor lots of bacteria. Just bad luck, most of the time my snakes don't defecate in their moss, but 'it' happens.

Just my two cents, you’ve already been giving some solid advice. Me personally on temps 88/90 on the high end. Actually 86/88 preferably, again that’s just me. And as far as low goes. In Chicago it gets cold. I had no issues with an occasional 72/74 during the colder time of the year. But 74/76 is what I again personally prefer. I believe we not only have a problem with underfeeding and overfeeding. But often have the temps to high in my humble opinion. Peace love etc. Hope this helps!
