Yes, this was the only photo the breeder supplied. I should have asked for more, and I should have inspected her better.
So, the experienced breeder I talked to asked the same questions about chemical exposure. The harshest thing I’ve used for cleaning is vinegar. I don’t own any prevent-a-mite. I’ve also had her for two weeks, so it wouldn’t be IBD. He had his own theory about fetal calcium deficiency causing brain damage.

Maybe? Probably the same snake.

I also think waiting 2 weeks+ to complain was too long on your part...so yeah, you both messed up in this deal, whether or not it's the same snake- they will
have a good point, that anything could have happened while at your house too. I'm NOT saying it did, but from a resolution standpoint, it muddies the water.
BTW, what is meant by "duckbill" in BPs? Since that was mentioned somewhere...?
It's always a challenge when you're buying something you're really excited about, whether it's a snake, a house or a sports car, you have to keep a cool head,
remain skeptical & really inspect what you're signing up for...BEFORE you sign the papers or take it home, & IF you go ahead, never wait so long to complain.

I wanted to do what was best practice for the animal. Many people will say to bring the anima home, house it, and let it settle in for a week. No handling. No feeding. Only open the cage for cleaning and water changes. So, in this case, a one week policy would be bunk. I tried my best to stick to this plan.
Also, I had been in contact with the breeder during this time. I attempted a feed 5 days after getting her, on Saturday and informed him it didn’t go well. He says his feeding practice is to “literally toss in the prey, close the bin, and leave it,” which I think is bad practice. I never leave prey unsupervised unless it’s dead. I’ve been in contact about my temps and husbandry as well.

Well since you were in contact with him, you should also have brought up the "what ifs...?" since you said that nothing was clearly spelled out policy-wise.
(hindsight is 20:20, of course)

Best news. The breeder decided to refund my money and take her back. I wanted to give him a chance before leaping to a smear campaign.
Thanks everyone for your input and support. It is greatly appreciated.

That's good to hear. Really hope you take what you've learned from this experience and apply it to your experience. That's what mistakes are for!

If you have a couple animals, a 6 month quarantine has acceptable risk. If you are a breeder that stands to loose a lot of animals and you do not want to risk spreading something even unknowingly, no amount of quarantine is going to tell you what you need to know. Only lab work will.
I am glad that you got your situation resolved.
Honest, I only need one more ...
