    Red Bullsnake

Just wanted to share a few pictures of my girl Artemis, the Kingsville red bull snake.

We've had her for about 3 months and she FINALLY shed for us today. Never thought I'd have a colubrid go so long before shedding with me.

I love her angry eyebrows. She's very little hiss and absolutely no bite and it is fantastic.

Very hard to photograph, she does zoom quite a bit on flat surfaces.

    Body shot!

Three months for a shed in a young snake, gee...that IS a long time!? I don't remember my bull or gopher snakes taking that long. But I wouldn't worry
about it. I never had bites from my bull or gopher snakes either...& hisses were uncommon; these snakes seem to "catch on" pretty fast. "Angry eyebrows"
don't mean much, lol...like rattlesnakes, they have scales above their eyes that shade the eyes & give them "that look".

    Re: Red Bullsnake

Yeah, I was a little baffled by how long it took for her to shed. She is the only colubrid I've had that took this long to shed.

She is eating 10% body weight prey once a week, so it's not a lack of food, I don't think... The only refusal I got was last week when she was about to go blue.

She has a few times in the first month been spooked by something across the room (I assume) and just started hissing into nothing. Open mouth, tongue out, the whole nine. It is absolutely comical.

Now she will just occasionally rattle her tail on my hand, haha.

The angry eyebrows are my favorite, it's super cute.

I don't mind a few hisses either, like you say, it's mostly comical. They're just learning what to fear or not to fear. Nothing like "opinionated" snakes.
I feel the same way when rattlesnakes rattle...same thing.
