    Normal BP?

Just picked up this female last week. She was in blue when I found her, but so sweet and laid back. She just shed yesterday so I finally got a real look at her coloring. I'm thinking she's just a very pretty (IMO) normal, but I'm still fairly new to this, so wondering if she might be YB? Either way I think she's pretty, even compared to my much "fancier" BP morphs.

    Re: Normal BP?

How much did you pay for it? That is often a good indication, especially if it came from a breeder. If you got it from something like petco, then sometimes it will have another gene in there but they don't really care about mentioning that because they've already marked it up sufficiently. She's beautiful btw.

I got it from a pet store, & of course they had no idea, other than it wasn't supposed to be a normal.

I am assuming it was listed as "fancy" ball python or something along these lines.

    Re: Normal BP?

I don't see the checkered markings of Yellowbelly. I do see some blushing coming up from the belly.

The pattern is quite crazy. I like it. No head stamp though. I would say 'Normal' on this one. Of course...based on the black pigment distribution on the dorsal/ventral tail section I wouldn't be surprised if she proved Het for Pied-especially as lots of large breeders wholesale their Possible Hets as 'Normals' and morphs are becoming much more common in the wholesale pet trade.

It is a nice looking snake any which way.

I agree, looks like it’s a normal with a het something. Either way it looks great! I’ve actually have been wanting a normal as all I have are morphs at the moment

    Re: Normal BP?

I had been wanting to get a normal anyway, (my others are all morphs too), so if that's all she is I'm happy she's so nice looking. I thought she had some het markers (again, I'm new to this so uncertain what exactly I'm looking for), so I plan on breeding her to a pied when she's ready, so we'll see. Fingers crossed, although I understand the likelihood of me being that lucky are very slim. Thanks for the input.

I agree with the either very nice normal or some hets taking effect. Pattern, blushing, etc. Beautiful either way.

    Re: Normal BP?

To answer the previous questions I didn't answer, I got her from Petsmart & didn't pay that much. She was with other "assorted ball pythons". Since she was in blue I knew her colors were off, but I really liked her patterns & she was so nice when I held her I decided to get her.
