    So close!

So my little guy ate weekly while still at the breeder but only live. He wouldn't touch f/t. I gave it a shot yesterday & after a little puppeteering he struck the mouse & coiled it. 30 seconds later my dog decided to come into the room & bark. Of course he spooked the snake & he let go with his mouth but was still coiled. I left the room & closed the door so he could do his thing in private. I checked a few hours later & there was the mouse, right where he left it. So.....mouse down the toilet & we'll try again today or tomorrow. Henry the schnauzer will be outside this time!

Yes, definitely keep the dog away from the snake. Snakes and other pets don't mix.

As f9r feeding, don't offer again for a week. Offering too often can stress the snake and lead to more refusals.

If i'm planning on offering live should I still wait a week?

For something like this, I'd personally just wait a day or so since he clearly wanted to eat yesterday.

For routinely poor feeders, I agree with Craig, don't keep offering (as some do, day after day...), not less than once a week is best to avoid too much stress.

And don't give up on the f/t... been there, done that...takes some patience but the safety is worth it.

If he took it I would not do live yet. As others said wait a week and offer f/t again. Use a hair dryer on the head to get it super warm.

Success!!! He took a f/t mouse & ate it this time! From strike to swallow was only 10 or 15 minutes. Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
