    Feeding Strike

My ball python recently stopped feeding 4weeks ago. I haven’t handled her at all in those four weeks. My temps and humidity are good. I was wondering how long they can go without eating before I need to bring her in to a vet. I don’t know if this makes a difference but she’s around 1/2. She seems fine to me but is there anything I need to look out for to make sure she isn’t sick? I feed her thawed out rats and I always make sure they are warm to the touch. She shows interest in them but she just never strikes. Is there any thing I can do on my end? I don’t think this would work but should I try feeding her live rats?

I had a 6 month old female that skipped the whole month of January. I weighed her weekly to make sure she wasn’t losing weight. When I tried to feed her the first week of February she chowed down. For some reason Ball Pythons are weird when it comes to eating. I would say as long as it’s not losing weight it will be ok. I’ve heard of them going months off feed.

No need to worry. 4 weeks is nothing as long as the snake isn't losing a lot of weight.
Offer every two weeks until she eats again.

No need for a vet, no need to switch to live. Your snake is just doing what BPs do.

My adult female goes 5 months without food every winter, by her own choice, and only loses about 100 of her 1200 grams, so yeah, they can go a while. I have a few balls that won't strike, and prefer to have the warm rat left outside the hide and will eat when I leave the room, so you could give that a try.

My snake quit eating 4 weeks ago too. I’ve had him skip a meal but never 4 weeks. He also acts interested but will not strike. Recently moved to pvc tank but took meal first week and now has stopped. So confused.... I’m gonna wait 2 weeks.
