Reptichip vs The Others
I just finished my 1st block of Reptichip and I'm looking for some suggestions on what to try next. I've heard a lot of people mention ProCoco and Reptile Prime.
With the Reptichip, I used to have problems w/ high humidity but since I moved my enclosures closer to the heat source, humidity doesn't stay as high as it used too. Also, the Reptichip seems to create a lot of dust (which could be normal since I haven't tried anything else).
Thoughts on the various substrates mentioned above? Does one hold better humidity then the other?
This substrate will be used for a BP in an enclosure heated by two UTHs and a BOA in an enclosure heated by an RHP.

I bought Reptichip and Reptile Prime at the same time and tested both. I liked ReptiChip more, so I never finished my bag of Reptile Prime. There's nothing wrong with it - but the Prime is a finer substrate and I liked the look of the chunkier stuff better. Plus it's a lot more expensive than the Reptichip. I can get enough cocoa husk to replace the substrate in two 4x2 PVC cages for $20. It would cost me double that to do it with Reptile Prime.
Prococo is essentially the exact same thing as Reptichip. I switched over to Prococo recently because a local breeder sells it at shows, and if it didn't have a different label on it, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from Reptichip. Same stuff.

Where are you getting your Reptichip? I've been having the opposite where Reptichip has been more expensive than Reptile Prime for me. Or are you referring to over all value?

I use a blend of eco earth and repti-bark. It holds humidity well, is easy to spot clean and looks naturalistic.

As for input, I use a mix of Reptichip and Reptile Prime and have been enjoying the blend so far. I find Reptile Prime is more absorbent while Reptichip adds nice body to it.

I actually had a hard time finding Reptichip for a long time and someone told me about Grow!T, it's essentially the same, or really similar to Reptichip and I can buy it on Amazon for like $12-13 a block. It's usually used as a growing medium in hydroponic agriculture and also as a mulch or soil amendment for potted plants and raised garden boxes. And it's certified organic, so no chemicals or other problems like that.
I really like it, it does the job and it's cheaper than most alternatives.
Here's a link to the stuff on Amazon.
In my area, with Amazon Prime, I can have it the next day for free if I need it that soon, ie, I didn't check how much was in the tote I store it in before I started cleaning all my tubs.
