    BP. Net

I just wanted to tell everybody on here how thankful I am for the compassion and advice I have been given over the last couple years. I have recently joined a few ball python groups in Facebook and I’m very disappointed by the way that the administrators and members act. When people asked for advice or are showing off their hard work they have put in to their enclosures most of the time it ends up in a bashing session. We all have our likes and dislikes and believes but here I have never seen anybody be disrespectful. I just wanted to share my experience and thank everyone one here!

This X 1000. I joined probably the same group. Man I think it's whole purpose is to stroke the ego of it's moderators. This is so much more enjoyable a place to hang out. I'm afraid to post on that group.

I've heard similar things before, & I'm so glad I just don't even "do" Facebook. I never trusted their info. security to begin with (which proved to be accurate)
& it seems like the groups that should be helping people on there just don't. It's really too bad.

To give some credit they do seem to really care about the Ball Pythons and most do give decent info its just the delivery, and the attitude if you try to suggest they could be a bit more polite. As far as Facebook in general I agree 100% but I do have some really good helpful groups for other things I belong to. Like everything else online it's dependent on the type of people in it. Angry and "I'm better then you, you whinny little idiot" doesn't seem to last around here. There are too many good friendly people. It's just that positive breeds positive and negative breeds negative.

    Re: BP. Net

Yes I I agree that they really care about their ball pythons but so does everybody else who takes the time for advice. Just because they think it’s best to keep snakes in tubs or 10 gallon tanks and somebody else chooses to use a larger PVC enclosure as long as the temps are correct and the snake is healthy what does it matter? So today I guess what got me really upset if someone was showing a fairly large probably 36 inch enclosure that they built out of PVC and decorated and was proud of and they basically shut down the post because his enclosure was too big and not exceptsble. Now in the picture there were several hides it was decorated it was a nice enclosure. He had a full grown female ball python 1800 grams. Now if their opinion is that it should be in a 10 gallon tank it’s OK to express it in a nice way as a suggestion I disagree, I also have a 36” PVC enclosure I’m quite proud of. But they shut down the post because it was inappropriate housing. Inappropriate is a strong word and shutting it down? Really?????

Not saying FB doesn't have potential, but you can't educate others with a sledge hammer... and there IS usually more than one good way to do things.

    Re: BP. Net

Just saw that post. It was a beautifully done enclosure that hit all the necessary husbandry. I love how right away someone jumped on the light. I put a light in both my cages. They have switches. I plan to use them to see while cleaning.
