ETB Constantly Soaking In water dish

I have an ETB yearling that is constantly soaking in the water dish I have in the air.. he has been to the vet and is mite free and is in good health, weighs 176 grams, hot side is in the lower 80s, humidity about 77%. I thought it was the perches were to small so I got bigger that didn’t change things, the perches are very secure. He is in a tub, pee pad on bottom, water dish bottom and in mid air, got 3 fake plants around his tub that is hanging (they are plastic) and he tends to like to wrap himself around them at times. I have 2 heat mats one on back side and one on side. I have no idea what else it could be any and advice would be great... Maybe he just likes to soak all the time?? I use a heat gun also to verify temps... thank you

Maybe he just likes the "secure" feeling of being in a bowl-shape? I have no experience with this species, I'm just throwing this out there...but I have many
rat snakes (semi-arboreal) that love to snooze in bowl-shaped baskets wired up in their branches. So you might do the same thing, just to try it & see if that's
really what yours is after? Can't hurt...

Re: ETB Constantly Soaking In water dish

I agree with all of the above. I have a rat snake who suddenly became obsessed with soaking in her water day-and-night. I figured out that I had just turned the furnace on and the heater was actually blasting right into her enclosure intermittently. As soon as I redirected the vent and covered the her enclosure she stopped doing it so often
