Reptile Basics - Heat Mat Question

So, I finally made it home (for a few days) and decided to open up my new RB setup. As I’m trying to figure things out I come across this lil’ “issue”. I thought the heat mat would fit in the cutout without overlapping but that’s not the case. Am I missing something? Did I order the wrong mat?

They make different sizes of mats. Did you check the size of the cutout vs the size of the mat you ordered?

I didn’t find an exact measurement of the cutout until it arrived and I was actually able to measure it.

They make a heat kit specifically for their cages that fits that cutout spot, I think they list it with the cages primarily. I never notice it in the heating section anyway.

What you have looks like it is just an ultratherm heat mat, they sell those for tubs, tanks, other cages in various sizes so you can choose what you need based on the enclosure.

Here's the link to the 4x2 or 6x2 cage heat kit:

    And here's the 3x2 kit:

I always find them under the caging category.

I haven't bought one of theirs, cages or the cage heat kit, but I did think it was a bit poorly-explained about their heat kits and which one you need. It isn't made as easy to find as it could be, anyway. I found them doing research on cages a while back.

    Glad I could help.

Yes, in fact, the one I originally ordered (wrong size) was actually in the drop-down menu of items to add when I ordered the 4x2. Very confusing.

They should just exchange it for you...sounds like pretty much their fault anyway...I'd contact them a.s.a.p.

Thanks for the insight. I may just pay-it-forward and donate it.
