    Question Only one follicle?

I still seem to have no idea what is or isn't a follicle, no matter how much people explain it to me online LOL... But I'm feeling my female BEL (a new girl who I named Snowdrift, and is a 7 year old proven breeder) and I do feel a single rather large hard lump very close to her vent, maybe just 5 inches or so above.

It actually feels pretty large, maybe 2~3cm in diameter...? I've been feeling the same round hard thing there for a few weeks already, and I did pair her again during this time.

Do you think that sounds like a follicle? Is it possible to only have one egg? (knock on wood because that would suck LOL) Or is it something else entirely and I still have no idea what I'm feeling...

A single hard lump is definitely not an egg, eggs are soft.

You might be dealing with a large piece of stuck dry out urate or something completely different.

If it was to be 1 follicle which would surprise me you would find out pretty fast because you would nearing ovulation.

Follicles are usually about 2/3 to 3/4 down from the head. A lot more than a couple inches up from the vent. To feel follicles let her crawl through your hands and start feeling her belly about half way down with decent pressure. Most of the time the female will slow down and kind of walk her body around your fingers when you get to the follicles. That's when you know you're in the right area. Just keep feeling until her belly gets squishy again.

I was actually thinking urate when I read this thread this morning, but since I've got zero breeding experience I didn't reply.
