    Make to female breeding ratio.

For experienced breeders: How many females do you pair to a male project?
Let’s say you have a double recessive male and you are pairing him up to females for a “project”, how many females do you pair him with? Do you have a “backup” male for that project, in case he doesn’t seduce some of the girls? Do you have extra girls, since they might only breed every other year?

My current thinking is to have 1 primary male, I backup male and 6 female per project, but I want to be as efficient as possible without killing my males.

What do you number in your projects?

My number are usually 1.3 or 1.4 per projects.

And I do not have backup males for any projects so if a male is out for the season either the specific project will be on pause for the season or if the females can fit in well in other project I might pair them with males they would not generally be paired with.
