Adding a humid hide by filling a tupperware with moist moss and cutting a hole in it for entrance/exit really helps too. I also add extra moss to the overall cage in addition. Really helps, long as you spray it well once or twice a day

Would the heat lamp on the top mess with the towel?

I mixed a little damp moss in my substrate to bump up the humidity and it's now at 74%. I just got her though and this is her first shed with me - it's not going so well, but I'm almost positive she came from a drier enclosure (bright lights, no water bowl, etc.)

I like the comment about the shed cycling starting now, not when she's actively shedding. Makes sense.

I have a 5 tub 28 qt rack system. I use repti bark and my humidity stays between 55-60% humidity with regular misting. When I see my snakes start to get a blue tint to them, I put in the humidity box. It's just a cheap plastic container with a hole cut in the top filled with damp moss. All of my snakes have went inside the box and will stay in there for days at a time. I've never had any shed issues using this method.
