I'm a first-time ball python owner. My wife woke me up from a dead sleep she said the snake was making weird sound. I never heard it, but she said it sounded like she was gagging. This has happened 2 more times. It usually happenes 3 to 4 days after feeding. (3 times in 5 months that we know of.) I actually heard it this time. It sounded like gagging, almost like a dry heave with a gurgle. I searched you tube, found one video of a snake fart, (kinda sounded like my Zahra) and lots on how to check for a R.I. Yes I checked for a R.I. Any thoughts????

Would have been best to get up & actually see what the snake was doing. They don't typically digest their food in 3-4 days, which is how long after feeding you said this usually happens, but eating a meal might be pushing out some gas in the snake's GI tract about that time. I assume you're sure the snake has never regurgitated any meals? Your nose would likely not miss it if the snake did regurgitate so it was probably just passing gas.

The snake could have been peeing. Many will 3-4 days after eating, especially if they get f/t feeders that are offered wet, and sometimes they're pretty loud about it.
