    Hanging Out.

Wallace will be 3 years old June 1st.

He's topping off in growth and is exchanging length for girth. He had a dry shed that measured 10' 5" the other day.

    I suspect he's between 8' 6" to 9+ feet.

He eats nothing larger than large rats or quail. On this day he actually settled for a medium rat.

This species is very a rewarding display snake if you can set them up with perches. Retics are far more arboreal than most folks realize.

He's about 50-50 with perching and laying on the deck.

I love your critters and setups Gio. The lava lamps are a nice touch too . Where'd you get the large hides?

    Re: Hanging Out.

Good looking setup and animal! What size is the enclosure? What are the details on the background? I'm still a year or more from building the forever homes for my retics, probably going to be 7x3x3 and I want to try and do a cool background and make it as natural as i can.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the kind words.

Zig, they call that a tortoise shell hide. I think Petsmart has them but I got mine a Twin Cities Reptile. Our biggest metro reptile shop.

    Snakeboyaz,

The cage is 6' wide, 30 inches deep and 2 feet tall.

The backgrounds are from here. https://www.universalrocks.com/fish/backgrounds

I have 3 cages with backgrounds from this company, but they all were shipped to me by Constrictors NW. Ed Lilley. He was the maker of the Pro-Line cages I have.

The bottom two here have the backgrounds. The very bottom cage background is fairly flat (the boa cage). The middle cage has the most detailed background with ledges.

    Boa cage

I was setting up the retic cage here.
This background is in between the boa and carpet background.

    It ended up like this.

    Hanging Out.

Don’t know why I never inquired with you about where those backgrounds came from. I’ve got so many habitat design ideas now but my only concern is about the background blocking air ventilation slots in my enclosures. Hrmmm...
