Bloody feeds
Just fed Syd with a small rat. I always warm them up till their noses are blood red, this time though it’s eyes were bloody as well as the nose which resulted to a nice little blood splat across his hide.
Sooooo.... what’s the ‘dirtiest’ feed you’ve had?

Re: Bloody feeds
Worst I had was one of my BP rescues who is still on live for the first few meals... she grabbed a male mouse by the rear end and when she constricted, it caused her teeth to slice through a rather unfortunate area. Not quite guts coming out or anything that bad, but a lot of blood (from an unfortunate spot... poor boy mouse...).
Luckily she's on paper towels and has plastic hides, easy enough to replace or wipe clean after she digested.
I've luckily never had guts coming out, I'm always careful to thaw f/t slowly to do what I can to avoid that mess.

Grossest feed was from my first bp. He was really sick when we got him (but we didn't recognize it since he was our first snake). We had him for a few weeks, he wasn't eating, he was very very skinny, etc... We were trying all the old tricks of assist feeding and such. I didn't watch for this one, but my dad brained one of the little mice to try to get the snake interested. I never saw it but it's sooo gross to think about.

It didn’t explode. That would’ve been a nightmare.
When he grabbed an constricted it whacked its head on the hide an it basically left a swipe of blood.

No guts, just a swipe/line of blood where it’s head hit the hide.

You do know you're living with a predator, right?

The first time I tried feeding him, about a week after getting him I warmed a mouse up for too long, picked it up with tongs an they went straight through it like it was nothing. It’s guts came out a bit. Got binned.

My comment about guts was a reference to Deb's post about the exploding rat. Not saying yours did that.
