Question about young Columbian Boa Size

I have a quick and kinda dumb question about a rescue Boa I received recently. She is a 3 1/5 year old Female Columbian "Redtail" Boa. She is 55" long and weighs 1400grams. Here is my question. Is this a proper size for an animal who normally is expected to eventually be +7' and +10 pounds? Or is she potentionally stunted. Secondly How large were your 3 year old boas?

Re: Question about young Columbian Boa Size

The length sounds about right, but I can’t comment regarding the weight. I’ve only recently started keeping weight records for my hatchling bps, so I don’t have any for my adult snakes. My 26 year old female Colombian redtail is about 18 pounds and 7’ long. I can say that you don’t want to overfeed boas. They do much better on a lighter diet than a comparably aged/sized python.

Re: Question about young Columbian Boa Size

She seems a bit skinny. Her previous home only fed her about once a month. But otherwise she is Perfectly healthy and she is a great handler!

Re: Question about young Columbian Boa Size

Depending on the size prey, once every 2-3 weeks is about right for a 3 year old. If they were feeding a larger prey item, then 4 weeks between feedings would also be fine. If you can post a picture, that would help.
