How much should my ball python weigh?
Omerta was hatched on July 10, 2018. I feed him once every six days and he feeds just fine, whether it's a small mouse or a rat fuzzy (hes not picky). He doesnt look sickly or thin and doesnt act stressed. After getting him, he refused a meal for a week and then ate his second week. I didn't try handling him until he ate twice, and he doesnt act agitated during handling. I've had him since Dec 30. He weighs about 177 grams, and that seems kind of light for a BP over 6 months old.
Is he too lightweight? And if so, what should I do?

Weight isn't nearly as important as body structure.
Keep in mind, they hatch at different sizes, eat on different schedules, eat different prey sizes, etc...
There isn't an answer to your question, unfortunately.

My male axanthic is the same age as yours and he weighs 270g. More than likely yours was fed a maintenance diet before he was sold to you. Give him time and he will pack on the pounds!

Weight is a number you can have a 400 grams one year old just like you can have a 1200 grams one year old.
There are a lot of things that come into play, weight when they hatch, how fast the animal get started (some eat 2 weeks after they hatch some take 8 weeks), feeding frequency, prey size, fast etc.
Bottom line like Craig said pay attention to body condition and proper feeding.

I was going to recommend the same thing. A BP that size should be eating at least an adult mouse or small rats. I’m keeping mine on adult mice since that’s what I’ve had success with and what I’m breeding.
