Very true. I grew up being terrified of the water. It would happen when I was deep enough for my head to go under, which was caused by my father throwing me into the river when he was "teaching me to swim". I overcame this fear by learning how to scuba dive. Now, I have 7 diving certifications and have literally swam with sharks.
My other fear was of heights. I tackled this obstacle by going sky diving. Not to say I recommend these approaches but....it worked. So, like you've stated, we are absolutely capable of much more than we may think.
That's truly awesome that the OP has tackled his/her fear of rodents head-on and beat it! Definitely something to be proud of.

Those are mice, & yes, they ARE pretty cute, especially in all those fancy colors. I only breed fancy ones too, many in black/brown/tan or grey & white, & I'm proud
of my "herd" too. They don't make great pets though, no where near as smart as rats.

Me. Yuck! I like live chickens. I think they are neat. I like eggs. But I don't eat chicken.

I eat some meat but not much. I get sick from it. But I know that I have a hard time thinking of any animal being harmed yet I also used to enjoy eating meat before I couldn't tolerate it. Well, at least very little of it. So, I'm about humanity to animals too. Yes, they are food and they are pets. Humane treatment is the key IMHO, both to pets, livestock and wild creatures.
