Snake humidifier

Hello,
I found these directions on how to make a snake humidifier and was hoping you might take a look at it and advise me. I found everything at Walmart site and for the two vivariums it would be less than $25.

What do you think? Is it worth it? Will it work to stabilize the humidity?

When I had glass tanks, I just used a spray bottle and sprayed the substrate a couple times a day. Not sure what the benefits of using something like this would be. You would still have to turn it on each time to mist some water in the tank.

I think there are plenty of tricks to keep humidity up.

Are you using a glass tank?

I have used a Reptifogger in the past. However, it effect temperatures too much for a BP and does more harm then good. You will likely have the same issues.

I would see what Craig has to say. He's pretty good with the glass tanks.

Your answers will lie in properly covering the screen top as best you can while properly regulating temps with a thermostat so everyone is safe. Substrate is another place you can look to help with humidity big time.

EDIT: Long-term, I would be looking at Boaphiles or AP Cages, etc. for permanent homes, or a rack system.

large swimming dish on top of its own heating pad is a good way to go. Makes cleanup easy as well if they poop and pee in it.

Definitely a description of your set up would help us help you. And as mentioned above, there are many ways other then spraying to boost humidity. Me personally, I have four tanks. And right next to them a very large humidifier set to 50%. It’s a whole house model. I live in a 1450sq ft condo and it is big enough for that. Plus it helps with my daughters health issues and mine also. Not to mention the heat in the winter knocks my home humidity into the teens. I have most the top area of all my tanks covered with acrylic and when they go into shed I add sphagnum moss. I’ve used big humidifiers since I started keeping in the early nineties. It’s just always been easier for me that way. Plus you can always boost with repti chip or coco husk type substrates. Let us know about your whole set up including the room it’s in.
