Are my temps okay??
I just got my first ball python about 5 days ago and I'm having some trouble balancing the temps/humidity. I have a UTH and a heat lamp. The only thing is, the temperature on the ground fluctuates between 90 to 94 but the temperature a few inches above in the air is staying at about 82. I know 82 degrees, in general, is too cold for the hot side of the tank but is it okay since the ground is hotter? (Also the cool side stays at about 73-76 degrees in the air).
The humidity has also been a struggle. With spraying her terrarium about once an hour, I'm able to maintain it at around 57-63%, but every time I use the spray bottle, the temperature goes down. Is there a way around this or is it a matter of just finding the perfect balance?
I hope this isn't too many questions I'm just new at this and want to give her the perfect environment.

What is the temperature of the UTH UNDER the substrate?

Congrats on your first BP and welcome to the forum!
First off - how are you measuring your temperatures?

Re: Are my temps okay??
82 is good for air tempature. ur basking temp should be 90 under substrate, because they will burrow and can cause burns. So 90 at the glass/plastic etc w.e kind of setup ur using.

As for humidity. I don't care what people say. I'm lazy when it comes to misting every few hours. And where I live the humidity isn't very high. And that laziness has turned into several bad sheds. My solution: I got a reptifogger. It's set to come on when humidity is below 55% and turn off at 65%. When in shed it's set at 75%-85%. And sheds have been perfect. And for an acrylic enclosure with a screen top it holds humidity pretty good. Only comes on two maybe three times a day.

Re: Are my temps okay??
Sorry, under the substrate was what I meant, so the temperature under is fluctuating from 90 to about 94.
I'm measuring my temps with an acurite thermometer, another digital thermometer (but I dont remember the brand), the thermostat connected to the UTH, and I have those cheap temperature gauges in there but only because I used those at first and quickly found out they don't work.
I'll definitely look into the reptifogger because I've only had my snake for a few days but it's been tricky to manage the humidity and I don't want her to have any bad sheds.

Also, I was under the impression ball pythons weren't burrowing snakes? If they are, do I need to increase the amount of substrate in my terrarium because right now its about an 1.5 inches

No and its already too thick. 3/4" is all you need.

If you look into a reptifogger. Don't jump on the first one you find because there will always be one for cheaper. And don't buy from Petco or PetSmart. Their prices are already jacked up too much as it is.
