    Tub Tips?

I'm switching my bp from a tank to a tub today. Humidity and heat have been really hard to control, even with modifications to the tank. He shed yesterday and I'm really glad it was in 1 piece cause the humidity was being zapped out by my CHE.

Anyway, is there anything I need to know about keeping/switching to a tub? Any setup tips? Also, do you give the snake time to adjust before feeding or handling when moving to a new enclosure?

    Thank you!

You lose the fantastic clarity of the tank glass for one !

Give your car a good clean and polish and try looking at it through your frosted bathroom window

I do enjoy seeing my BP cruising about at night and it's easy to keep him in a tank since I only have 1 snake and space isn't an issue. The thing is, I would work harder to modify my tank to meet the humidity and heat requirements, but the tank he's in is extremely scratched and hard to see through as it is. I've tried scrubbing it down multiple times but we got it cause someone was throwing it away, because of the bad condition it's in I would assume.

If I had a better condition tank I might not switch to a tub, but I'll be honest, right now the visibility through the tank isn't that much better than you can get with a tub :/

And I'm hoping the tank holds water so I can move my fish to it. I heard the water can make the scratches and foggy glass kind of disappear (or at least be less notable) when submerged. So in a way using the tank how it looks best seems right to me. That's assuming it holds water. Fingers crossed!

when it comes to creating ventilation slits/holes, always start with a very minimal amount; you can always add more to adjust, but you can't take them back.

be sure the tub is 100% SECURE and ESCAPE-PROOF.

i always try to give the snake some peace for ~5-7 days after moving or something equally as stressful; it can't hurt.

how do you plan to get your ambient temps to the appropriate range? a UTH alone won't be enough.

This is pretty similar to what I’m using for my quarantine tubs, though I don’t think mine are Ziplock brand. Target is the only place I’ve found these. There are a few different sizes and the sides are reasonably clear. The lids are very secure with all the clips latched. These are pretty airtight when sealed, so air holes are a must...as said above start with fewer. Ambient in my quarantine room is minimum 75-77F so I’m only using uth, but if your room isn’t at least 75F constantly, I would find a way to add supplemental heat.

I'm planning to have either the portable heater we keep in our room or a CHE pointing towards the tub in addition to the UTH.
