I am just happy it was not a gun. That would have been even worse.

Gotta say, that's worse! I've heard of people being shot by their dogs accidentally, I think that would be a first for a snake?

And suddenly the average person who knows very little about snakes would believe that snakes ARE smart enough to have done it on purpose to kill someone. Especially someone they were "sizing up" already!

Leave it to me to take it to worst possible outcome.

I was talking to someone else when Fiona went into her purse. I didn't think much about it at first until I hear, "She is in my key ring!" I stop what I am doing, grab her out of the ladies purse and find that she was stuck about 6 or 8 inches in the key ring. I start working the key ring backwards off of her as gently as I can. Fiona goes nuts. She bites me and then bites herself in fear and pain. Someone brings me a towel and we use that to control her head while I continue to work her free of the ring. The place where she was stuck has about 4 rows of scales that tore a little as I removed it and blead some. I don't think any ribs are broken and put cream on the wound. After she was free of the keys I placed her and the towel in her tub so she could hide and calm down some. I pick her up 2 hours later to look her over and she is back to normal just a little more shy. Was scary for everyone. I did point out that she is a nice animal still just the fear and pain made her fight for her life. So happy she is safe now.
Poor little baby! Glad it turned out well.

Yep... I'm glad you managed to get her loose, though!
No surprise that she panicked, with people around and getting stuck/removed from the keys like that.

Naw, that's just forethought & accident prevention. Hard to prevent what you can't imagine. And you've helped us all by sharing this.

    Hahaha so true!

News reporter: "After years of planning how to kill it's owner, snake decides that it would be best to use a gun. It used its body to squeeze handle and trigger together and with great accuracy it shot owner on the chest. Is amazing how cunning and dangerous this evil creatures can be. Congress is looking in the matter to legislate new laws to prevent this from ever happening again."

I am happy that the lady that it happened to said that she was ok with me keeping her car keys till I went to the vet if I had to and was willing to do anything to help. A true snake lover there. Her behavior was expected and acceptable in the situation. I even said I was going to get bit before it happened.

I have a great/terrible imagination. I can think of tons more of possibilities but an ounce of prevention makes all the difference in the world. The only reason I knew what to do is from reading here in the forum about other animals getting stuck inside things. Thanks to everyone who posts their mistakes so that I can learn.
