Fiona corn snake, almost emergancy saturday.
So I had Fiona my albino corn that I got as a retired classroom pet a few months back. 8 year old full grown female. Well I allowed someone to hold her at my educational show. I was talking to someone else when Fiona went into her purse. I didn't think much about it at first until I hear, "She is in my key ring!" I stop what I am doing, grab her out of the ladies purse and find that she was stuck about 6 or 8 inches in the key ring. I start working the key ring backwards off of her as gently as I can. Fiona goes nuts. She bites me and then bites herself in fear and pain. Someone brings me a towel and we use that to control her head while I continue to work her free of the ring. The place where she was stuck has about 4 rows of scales that tore a little as I removed it and blead some. I don't think any ribs are broken and put cream on the wound. After she was free of the keys I placed her and the towel in her tub so she could hide and calm down some. I pick her up 2 hours later to look her over and she is back to normal just a little more shy. Was scary for everyone. I did point out that she is a nice animal still just the fear and pain made her fight for her life. So happy she is safe now.

Happy to hear she wasn't hurt. It's amazing the spaces they can squeeze into.

Yikes! Poor Fiona! Our skinny colubrids get into more trouble than BPs, but it's always the thing you can't envision. Poor snakes, they always seem to find
things like netting & key rings & holes into walls or couches...so glad it wasn't any worse!

No kidding. I would have taken her ear out before the snake got hurt. LOL.

Well, it likely would have been a bloody mess for her...Fiona could easily pull off a chunk of earlobe & quickly. Not so great for snake PR either, even though NOT
the snake's fault. So many things to watch for when dealing with the public...

I'll bet you don't let them allow snakes in their purses anymore. I can't remember a similar thing ever happening to me, how did you & Fiona get so lucky?
